In April and May of 1978, Billy Idol made his first trip to Los Angeles as a member of Generation X. Pleasant and I had been following his exploits as a member of the Bromley Contingent - a small legion of future punk and post punk artists who were also Sex Pistols superfans (including Siouxsie Sioux) all the way to his then-current glory as the frontman of Generation X. When he would call in to the local indie radio station KROQ, we were there to talk with him offline, when he wasn’t doing his scheduled on-air radio phone interview. So we got to know him before we met him. And once we met him, it was a punk dream come true! All our sensibilities aligned, we were his Los Angeles tour guides, and he became the next cover story for Lobotomy.
